Founded in 2024 by Father John Das, St. Antony Karunai Illam provides care, shelter, and support for mentally challenged individuals in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Our mission is to offer them safety, dignity, and hope.
Currently, we shelter 18 residents, including individuals of diverse age groups—7 are above 40, while 2 are below 18. With the dedication of our trained staff, including teachers holding Special Education B.Ed degrees, we provide essential education, therapy, and rehabilitation tailored to their needs.
More than just a shelter, Karunai Illam fosters independence and self-worth, ensuring emotional, medical, and social support. We aim to expand and build a center to house over 100 individuals, creating a nurturing environment for them to thrive.
